EMA President Represents the Association at ASAF Annual Conference and General Forum 2024 in Benin

The Erasmus Mundus Association (EMA) proudly participated in the African Students and Alumni Forum (ASAF)'s Annual Conference and General Forum 2024, held at the prestigious University of Abomey-Calavi on the 6th of September and Hotel Golden Tulip on the 7th of September in Cotonou, Benin. Representing EMA as its President, Dr. Md. Ashiqur Rahman, joined distinguished panelists to discuss the vital role of global alumni networks in fostering collaboration and partnerships across regions.

The conference, themed "The Africa-EU Collaboration in Fostering Quality Education: Perspectives from EU-funded Student & Alumni Networks," served as a dynamic platform to explore the contributions of EU-funded initiatives toward advancing higher education, professional development, and community impact.


During the panel session, Dr. Rahman shared the stage with esteemed representatives from ASAF, the Western Balkans Alumni Association (WBAA), the OCEANS Network, and the garagErasmus Foundation. He showcased EMA's expansive global activities, emphasizing the association’s commitment to supporting its members worldwide and promoting impactful networking opportunities. Dr. Rahman also underscored the importance of unified efforts among alumni networks to address shared challenges and drive sustainable development.

“Engaging with such a diverse and dynamic audience was truly inspiring. It reaffirmed the importance of collaborative efforts among EU-funded alumni networks to create meaningful impact. I am particularly proud of the many EMA members from African countries who are leading transformative initiatives within their communities,” Dr. Rahman remarked.

The event provided an excellent opportunity to connect with current and former EMA members from across Africa, who are actively contributing to positive change through their leadership and innovation. These exchanges laid the groundwork for deeper collaborations that align with EMA's mission to empower alumni and amplify their contributions on a global scale.

As the conference concluded, Dr. Rahman expressed optimism about the insights gained and the potential for future partnerships. “The discussions and ideas shared here will undoubtedly strengthen our collective efforts to enhance quality education and professional opportunities globally.
