Erasmus+ Info Day in Bosnia and Herzegovina 2024: A Successful Event for Education, Youth, and Sports Opportunities

The Erasmus+ Info Day, held on October 16-17, 2024, at the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo, was filled with knowledge sharing and networking. Organised by the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina in collaboration with the Erasmus+ Office and BRAVO organisation, the event aimed to inform students, professionals, and organisations about the diverse opportunities available under the Erasmus+ programme. Adaleta Omerbasic, Country Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina represented the Erasmus Mundus Student and Alumni Association (EMA).

As Bosnia and Herzegovina continues to integrate more closely with European educational, youth, and sports initiatives, the Info Day served as a platform for potential applicants to learn how they can benefit from Erasmus+ projects in these fields. Representatives from universities, and governmental and non-governmental organisations across the country gathered to share their experiences and guide participants through the application process for Erasmus+ grants and exchanges.

Day 1 of the Event

The first day of the event was dedicated to opportunities in higher education and vocational education and training (VET). The opening remarks from the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the European Union Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the National Erasmus+ Office set the stage for an informative day. Key Erasmus+ actions were discussed, including International Credit Mobility (ICM), Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE), and Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degrees (EMJM) including Erasmus Mundus Design Measures (EMDM), which provided participants with valuable insights into how they can take part in international educational exchange programmes.

Attendees also had the chance to discuss vocational education and training (VET), with presentations on Capacity Building in Vocational Education and Training (CBVET) and successful VET projects. The discussions allowed participants to learn how to apply these opportunities to their institutions and studies.

Day 2 of the Event

The second day focused towards youth and sports, showcasing the numerous opportunities available for young people and sports organisations under the Erasmus+ programme. Presentations on youth mobility, virtual exchanges, and Capacity Building in Youth (CBY) helped participants better understand how they engage in international projects that foster personal and professional growth. Additionally, the discussions on the Regional Youth Cooperation Office (RYCO) and Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Sports (CBS) highlighted best practices from past projects and encouraged participants to develop their initiatives.

Adaleta Omerbasic, EMA's Country Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina was present to assist attendees, providing detailed information on Erasmus Mundus opportunities, specifically guiding students and professionals through the application process for Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degrees (EMJM). Her expertise helped attendees understand the impact these programmes can have on their academic and professional careers. The National Erasmus+ Office in Bosnia and Herzegovina highlighted Adaleta and the Erasmus Mundus Student and Alumni Association as a highly active branch of the Erasmus Mundus Students and Alumni Association. This recognition emphasised their significant efforts in assisting students, alumni, and institutions across Bosnia and Herzegovina in navigating Erasmus Mundus opportunities.

The Erasmus+ Info Day was a fantastic opportunity for potential applicants to gather essential knowledge and insights into the vast possibilities offered by the Erasmus+ programme. With the European Commission expected to launch the new Erasmus+ call for proposals later this year, this event was perfectly timed to prepare participants for upcoming opportunities.

Stay tuned for more updates on Erasmus+ events and be ready to seize these opportunities to broaden your horizons and engage in global exchanges!
