Unexpected Path Leads to Beautiful Journey
In 2018, my journey began with an unexpected turn. I found myself enrolled in a Bachelor's degree course in Agriculture, a field I hadn’t initially intended to pursue. Little did I know, this was the beginning of an incredible adventure. In December of that same year, I learned about the Erasmus Mundus scholarship, a discovery that would alter the course of my life.
Inspired by Jerry Maria Sojan, an Erasmus Mundus and Marie Curie PhD alumnus, I decided to apply for the program. The journey from that moment to becoming an Erasmus Mundus Master in Soil Science scholar in 2022 was marked by hard work, persistence, and a lot of prayers. I even wrote my dream on a small sticky note in my room in 2018, a constant reminder of what I was striving for. Despite facing numerous obstacles, rejections, and moments of self-doubt, my dedication paid off, and my dream became a reality.
Joining the Erasmus Mundus program was nothing short of transformative. Being in a different country, making my own decisions, and embracing the wonderful mobility of moving around Europe changed my perspective completely. I realised I was much stronger than I had ever thought.
The connections I made with my batch mates were invaluable. They inspired me and motivated me to push harder towards achieving my dreams. The program itself fostered an openness to learn from every possible aspect. There were no constraints; professors and colleagues were always kind and helpful. The exposure and confidence Erasmus Mundus provided were incomparable.

Erasmus Mundus took me from a person who preferred the safety of my comfort zone to someone ready to face new challenges every single day. The international exposure gifted me with numerous skills, including interpersonal skills, self-reliance, communication and social skills. Leaving my home country and moving from one country to another, adapting to different cultures, and navigating new environments was entirely new to me. Yet, the Erasmus Mundus journey equipped me with a strong belief and confidence in myself.

From facing obstacles and rejections to ultimately achieving my dreams, Erasmus Mundus has been an incredible chapter of my life, and I look forward to the many adventures and challenges that lie ahead.
