EMA Bangladesh celebrates International Mother Language Day 2023

In November 1999, the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) designated February 21st as International Mother Language Day.

The idea to celebrate International Mother Language Day was the initiative of Bangladesh. The day brought attention to the historical language movement and the deaths of martyrs in Bangladesh in 1952.

The day honours languages and multilingualism as powerful ways to unite people and help the world grow.

In light of this, EMA Bangladesh took the initiative to mark International Mother Language Day to express the world in its variety, pledging to preserve the diversity of languages as a shared legacy and striving for quality education – in mother tongues – for everyone. You can see the video they created to mark the occasion here.
